HEADS OR TAILS HATS
 

Rick Phemister opened a western store in 1980 in partnership with his mother, Doris Jean. The store front of Heads or Tails Western Wear remained open until January 2003.  Previous to the closing of the store front, Rick wanted to offer a better hat selection in the store. He then began customizing hats by painting eyelets & putting eyelets in hats to match hatbands. The creation of Heads or Tails Hats was now under way! Since 2003, Heads Or Tails Hats has been on the road from show-to-show year-round. After 37 years Rick has figured out a lot of different ways to screw up a perfectly good hat, but his skills have evolved immensely. He is an artist & chooses cowboy hats to showcase his talent & creativity. Rick has added custom burning on felts & palm leaf, Swarovski crystals designs, hat bands, custom art work & bound edging to his artistic resume, just to name a few.  In 2004 he started designing one-of-a-kind hats for every Miss Rodeo Texas queen.  Rick is a recognized & proud sponsor of Miss Rodeo Texas to this day. Since 2010 he has also been privileged enough to customize a hat every year for the crowning of a new Miss Rodeo America. In the past he has even made a custom hat for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Rick takes pride in his work & has been humbled to have so many wonderful patrons over the years, many of which are repeat clients. When he's not on the road traveling from show to show, Rick enjoys being at home with his three daughters.
